The initial idea of the “Balkan Women Coalition” rose in 2012 and was developed from partner organizations from Greece, Romania, Croatia, FYROM, Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Update Meeting of Balkan Women Coalition in Thessaloniki

On November 24-25, 2021, the city of Thessaloniki in Greece hosted the much anticipated face-to-face update meeting of the Balkan Women Coalition (B-WCo II) project.

Against the backdrop of the continuing epidemic, the gathering was a watershed moment in the partners’ joint efforts to empower women in the Balkan region. The gathering brought together dedicated experts from the participating countries to debate progress, difficulties, and the future of the B-WCo II project.

In addition to reviewing the project’s progress, the meeting facilitated the formation of new collaborations among organizations working towards similar goals. New initiatives were announced, aiming to enhance cross-border cooperation and strengthen the network of women’s rights advocates across the Balkans.
