B-WCo Awards / Selection and Eligibility Criteria

In choosing the recipients of the B-WCo Balkan Female Entrepreneurship Awards, regard is given to the nominee's achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contribution to their country’s community and nation.

An individual need only be nominated by the organization, representing its country in the B-WCo to be considered. That means that only female entrepreneurs from Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, FYROM, Albania and Croatia can be nominated.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Awards will not be granted posthumously

  • Nominees must be at least 18 years of age on the day of the application

The selection criteria are:

  • Female entrepreneurs (owners of company)
  • Establishment or nationality in the B-WCo participants’ countries
  • Demonstrated excellence in their field
  • Significant contribution to their country’s community and nation
  • An inspirational role model for their national community
  • Established at least 3 years before the nominations* (*with exception of the nomination for start-up of the year to be awarded to company established at least 6 months before the nomination)
  • The company to be working at the time of the awards
  • To best the nomination template completed before 10/10/2014

Selection panels will also give consideration to the following in assessing and comparing nominations against the above criteria:

  • Personal, academic and professional achievements
  • Contribution in the relevant field (how has the nominee 'put back' into their field to benefit others)
  • Demonstrated leadership, innovation and creativity
  • Personal interests and community involvement
  • Contribution to development of regional community and/or economy
  • Future goals and likely impact
  • Degree of difficulty of the achievement and sacrifices made
  • Country of residence
  • Previous awards and recognition
  • Voluntary work beyond paid employment
  • Nature and length of activity or service
  • Achievements as an individual or as part of a group or organization
  • Availability and commitment to promote national pride and active citizenship though the year of the recipient's appointment
